Questions to ask when reading the Bible:
Reasoning
Can you tell the story in your own words?
What are we learning about God?
What are we learning about people?
Feelings
- How did the characters in the story feel?
- How did you feel as you read the story out loud?
Application
- Is there an example you want to follow?
- Is there a command that we should obey?
- Did you come across a principle that you would like to put into practice?
- Based on these verses, what do you want to change in your life?
- Who would you like to tell about the things you discovered?
Useful questions when reading the Bible in a group:
Past
- What happened last week that brought you and/or those around you joy?
- What happened that made you and/or the people around you sad?
- How did you experience God as you applied the verses we read?
- Who did you explain it to and how did they respond?
Present
- What does this teach us about God?
- What does this teach us about people/ourselves?
Future
- Based on these verses, what do you want to change in your life?
- With whom would you like to share your discoveries?
